Perfect lamp operation throughout entire part-load operational range
In contrast to conventional transformers, the HALOTRONIC does not generate any overvoltage. Therefore, operation under partial load will not reduce lamp life either. Consequently, if one lamp in a multi-lamp luminaire fails, for example, this failure will not lead to the early failure of any of the remaining lamps.

The figure shows a conventional 100 VA transformer that is not laid out for partial loads. When operating a 20 W lamp on such a device, the high secondary voltage of >13.5 V will strongly reduce lamp life. The increase of the operating voltage of over 10% will affect a drop of over 60% in lamp life.

Quietly dimmable
Operation of the HALOTRONIC devices is nearly inaudible. Even when run in dimming mode with trailing-edge phase dimmer in the least advantageous dim setting, the noise level should normally stay < 20 dB (A).
For comparison, the recommended values for acceptable noise levels indoors are:
- 35 dB (A) for a quiet living room
- 35 dB (A) for an office

Advantages compared to conventional transformers
Electronic transformers usually come with around 60% of the dimensions, 15% of the weight and 30% of the power consumption of more conventional transformers.

Efficiency
- Non-aggressive lamp operation throughout entire part-load operational range
- 2/3 less thermal load for the luminaire from the transformer
- Ready to install unit that doesn't necessitate additional security measures
- Lower energy consumption as compared to conventional transformers

Security
- The devices come with electronically reversible short circuit, overload and overheating protection
- All devices have
and/or
certification - suitable for and ready to install in luminaires of protection class II and III, and for luminaires with
